I saw NIN live in Glasgow last month, and their new album is out now. You can stream the whole thing for free from their website.

I’d never really thought of them as a live band before, but they were as tight as a gnat’s chuff. It was a strange experience though – the majority of the audience were emos (I’m not sure why they’re called that, they just look like goths to me!) and I’m guessing the rest were people like me and my brother – fairly normal looking 30-somethings who had been into NIN when Pretty Hate Machine came out (1989? 1990?)

The only aspect of the evening I wouldn’t repeat would be turning up early to see the support band, Ladytron. I was reminded of that Kit Kat advert where a band were meeting with a record company executive: “You can’t sing, you can’t dance, you look awful. You’re gonna be stars!”

I guess I’m showing my age…
