I decided it was time that I moved my blog to a full-on hosting package so as of now I won’t be updating this WordPress site. All of the old posts are also on my new site, but I’ll keep this site here as an archive until there’s no more new traffic.

This is non-stop Tartan Army bedlam, 19 of the very finest tracks on one disc designed to be handed over to the local beer shop custodian on tour with a request to “stick that on the CD player, s’il vous plait”

The Tartan Specials never fail to disappoint – a group of New York based Scotland fans who’ve made half a bunch of songs over the last few years about the joys of following the national team (including my favourite “Sex & Drugs & Sausage Rolls”)
Their latest effort, written about our current Euro 2008 qualification campaign, may have a relatively short shelf life but I can see it still being popular long after we’ve lifted the trophy in the Alps next summer… the line “1-0 Gary Caldwell, get it up ye Trezeguet” had me in stitches the first time I heard it…

A great wee piece narrated by the enemy of the Tartan Army, Jim Traynor, ripped from the Beeb’s website. I used Skado to capture the audio stream – a superb piece of software that you can get hold of at download.com – it costs 20 dollars but is so simple to use it’s well worth the money to avoid dicking around with freeware. If you want a freeware method of doing this, Audacity is worth a look – I use it to edit audio files (and it’s second to none for that) but I think you can capture streaming audio with it as well.
Great news for those of you who don’t own John Wesley’s entire back catalogue already – he’s giving it away for free! The motive behind this is to remove as many barriers as possible to getting it heard, and while he’ll continue to release new music for sale on CD initially, he’ll then make that free as well.

I’ve blogged about John Wesley once before, and he’s one of those guys who I’m always surprised isn’t better known. Hopefully this latest move will start to change that.
Another mashup – this time The Cure’s “Love Cats” is thrown in a moulinex blender with “One Minute Man” by Missy Elliot. Soooooperb!
“Reservoir Dogs” is one of my favourite movie soundtracks – not so much for the music itself, or the atmosphere it gives the film, but more for the fact that it implies that there’s a whole other movie going on in the background. What else is going on while people listen to the laconic drawl of the DJ on K.B.I.L.L.Y.’s Super Sounds Of The Seventies? Sitting in the BA lounge at Heathrow the other night with 20 minutes to spare I decided to add something to my blog. I’ve had this really cool mashup of Eminem and Genesis for a few years so I fired that on.
Then yesterday I was messing around on the net and decided to check out my blog stats. I normally get about 15 or 20 hits a day, but at lunchtime I was already on 62… so I checked where all the traffic was coming from. What on earth is the New York Magazine, and more to the point how did they find my blog? Chuffed to bits that they name checked me though!
I checked back in the evening, and my hit count had rocketed to almost 200… seems like a few people had seen the NY Mag article and pinched it for themselves, getting me even more traffic… like these guys and these guys.
When I got into work this morning I wondered where I ended the day. 280 hits! And already 85 for today! But even cooler, I made it onto WordPress’s “Top Posts” chart yesterday! Breaking into the top 100 at number… wait for it… 69 dude!!!
I’ve got an absolute cracker of a post lined up for later today. It’ll be my last post before I go away on holiday for a week, I wonder if the hits will keep on coming?
